The Employment and Social Outlook trends predicts two niche-market sectors for early-stage startups in 2015: 1) Healthcare & Social Services and 2) Restaurants & Hospitality.
Healthcare and Hospitality adding 5 million jobs to the global economy over the next decade.
According to the World Employment and Social Outlook 2015 Trends, the private sector services together with accommodations and restaurants (food services & hospitality) are expected to create jobs at the fastest rate of any sector in the economy for the next five years. The U.S. Bureau of Labor statistics reports another trend. The healthcare and social assistance sector is projected to grow at an annual rate of 2.6%, adding 5 million jobs over the next decade. The Baby Boomers from the Post WWII generation are an ageing population with an uncertain future on pensions and retirement plans due to cuts in social security, lack of savings, and low-yield on investments. Long-term lucrative prospects in the healthcare sector reveals how ageing societies are leaving behind responsibility for the younger generation to provide healthcare and social services for the elderly population (both in the United States and China).
